As per Adani latest news, the Kamuthi Solar Power Project which the Adani Group operates, will be the future of solar energy for India. As the Adani Group is moving ahead towards its ambition of installing 45 GW of renewable energy by 2030, one of the significant contributors in the solar energy sector has been the Kamuthi Solar Power Plant. This power plant is spread across 2,500 acres of arid land in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. It has a capacity of 648 MW and is the largest-scale solar power plant in India. It is also one of the biggest solar plants in the world to be built at a single location by a single entity. This is yet another remarkable venture the Adani Group is taking up in the renewability sector. This project will also act as a flag-bearer for more such renewable energy projects in India.

The Kamuthi Solar Power Plant:

The commodity power plant has been generating 9 billion kWhr of electricity since its inauguration in 2016. However, it is not just known for generating electricity. The solar power plant was mainly developed to experiment with different types of advanced technologies for solar power generation in the upcoming years. Around INR 4,550 crore of investments were made in the technological developments at the power plant. R Aravamudhan, the Station Head of the commodity solar power plant, has recently mentioned that the power plant is a bouquet of technologies and will pave the path towards technological innovation in the country. Because of the enhanced use of technology, the Kamuthi power plant has made it to the headlines of Adani latest news.

The Technological Advancements Being Made at The Plant:

The Kamuthi solar plant had 1.25 MW of bifacial modules in 2015. Bifacial modules were less popular during that time. However, the Adani Group still decided to try it out, and today, it has become one of the most popular technologies for solar power generation. Around 12 MW of the capacity is on thin film modules, and 6 MW is on seasonal tilt. Around four times a year, the direction of the modules is changed so that they can capture sunlight better, produce solar power more efficiently.

Other than that, many innovative steps were also taken towards smoothly generating electricity. 50 MW of capacity is set on the trackers, as evident by Adani latest news. These trackers track the sunlight daily as the sun moves from the east to the west. The 10 MW of capacity is on trackers of 7 different types. This allowed for enhanced solar energy production. Around 576 inverters and 154 transformers have also been installed at the plant. The entire solar power plant at Kamuthi was built with 2.5 million modules from 9 of the biggest manufacturers in the country. The Adani Group officials have recently mentioned that the data generated by the Kamuthi power plant is used for various other installations.

The Other Ventures Made in The Renewable Energy Sector:

Adani Green Energy Limited recently announced that it has finally operationalised a 551 MW solar plant in Khavda, Gujarat. This is yet another extraordinary venture being taken up by the Adani Group. As time progresses, more such renewable energy projects will be built in different corners of the country. Today, Adani Green Energy Limited has an operating renewable energy portfolio of 9 GW. It also has a locked-in growth trajectory of 20.80 GW. From April to December 2023, the company reported a total revenue earning of INR 5,794 crore. This revenue is generated from cash profit.

The Adani Group has been one of the country's most prominent renewable energy sector players. Time and again, it has taken up multiple projects, each aimed at improving the country's renewable energy portfolio. It has also tried to ensure that the complete energy generation process takes place in a highly technologically advanced way with the minimum use of resources. As time progresses, we will see more such ventures in renewable energy being taken up by the Adani Group, leading us to a sustainable future.
