Before getting to the heart of the matter, it is appropriate to say a few words about the types of facial cleansers available on the market, given that they offer a wide range. In fact, on the shelves of physical or virtual stores, you can find gels, mousses, milk, soaps, micellar waters, vegetable oils and cleansing creams. Many of these, due to their intrinsic characteristics, are ideal for specific skin types. At the same time, only some are able to cover a slightly broader spectrum, as in the case of dry and sensitive skin, which share some peculiarities.

All these products are usually divided into two main categories: foaming facial cleansers and face wash for oily skin. The former contains particular molecules, called surfactants, which act "by contrast" in dissolving the fatty substances present on the face. They are more suitable for those with oily skin, but they can also be good, especially in less aggressive formulations, for those with normal or combination skin. Oily detergents, on the other hand, apply the so-called pedophilic cleansing (also called "by affinity"), i.e. fats and impurities are solubilized through the lipid, declining the chemical principle of "similar dissolving similar". Cleansing, therefore, is less aggressive than foaming detergents, and this leads to more tremendous respect for the hydrolipidic film of the skin. For this reason, oil cleansers are ideal for those with very dry or sensitive skin.

 Facial cleanser for sensitive skin

If you have sensitive skin, which is therefore easily irritated, you should NOT use a cleansing gel. This is because this type, belonging to the category of foaming cleansers, tends to dry the skin and thus risks causing further irritation to the face. Obviously, the exception is those gels that have been specifically designed for sensitive skin and are therefore less aggressive. Instead, it would help if you considered something more delicate, such as Golden Pearl Cream and cleansing milk, as they also have a hydrating and soothing action.

Facial cleanser for oily skin

If you have oily, acne-prone skin that is characterized by many impurities, you should choose a product that contains a small amount of salicylic acid. This acid, in fact, allows a deeper cleansing of the pores and promotes a peeling effect on the face, i.e., it takes away dead cells. Being also a sebum regulator, it helps to combat acne.

Facial cleanser for dry skin

If you have dry skin, you will have to pay close attention to the delicacy of the products you choose, a bit like what also happens to those with sensitive skin. Both types, in fact, quickly tend to chap and redden. Also, in this case, you could opt for a creamy and hydrating product, such as the Golden Pearl Face wash or choose something even more delicate, such as a vegetable oil-based cleanser. This type of product, in fact, removes impurities from the skin without attacking it. Furthermore, once rinsed with plenty of warm water, it leaves the skin smooth and very hydrated.

Even if you don't have dry and sensitive skin, you could still opt for a vegetable oil-based cleanser, mainly if you constantly use makeup and coloured face creams, such as BB Cream. Additionally, consider completing your makeup cleansing with the use of gentle micellar water.

Facial cleanser for combination skin

Combination facial skin is the most complex situation to deal with, as far as the choice of products is concerned. If you remember, it has characteristics common to both oily and dry skin. As if that weren't enough, the tendency to be dry or oily is also influenced by the season of the year in which we find ourselves. So, how can you extricate yourself from this tangled skin situation? There are two primary schools of thought on this matter. The first recommends taking care of the dominant situation, that is, when combination skin tends to be oily, treating it with products that act more on the production of sebum. Conversely, if your skin tends to be drier, it is best to use delicate and hydrating products. The other school of thought suggests using a "versatile" product capable of adapting to the non-homogeneous nature of combination skin.

If you want to embrace the first solution, choose one of the specific products for oily and dry skin that is already mentioned and use it at the most appropriate time. If you want to buy just one product which is suitable for all situations (provided your skin is not highly oily or very dry).
