The latest version of the eChampions League (eCL) will offer top-level competition on the virtual pitch of FIFA 23, with Europe's best players in the world competing for Europe's most popular eSports FIFA trophy with a share of over $280,000 prize pool.

This year's eCL Finals will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, in early June, the same week as the UEFA Champions League 2023 final. Players will participate in multiple online qualifiers and knockout stages of the tournament to secure a place in the final 8, which will be contested for the season's final.

eChampions League Format

While in the real UEFA Champions League, teams can qualify through their league standings and the UEFA Champions League playoffs, it works very differently in FIFA 23. EA Sports has divided Europe into these four regions.

The competition is only available on PlayStation 5. The top 256 players from each region can participate in the eChampions League online qualifiers. They can earn this position in the divisional rivalry and collect as many points as possible in the Elite Division before the end of the first season of FUT 23 (11 November 2022).

  • Germany & Austria
  • Nordics & East: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine.

Once again, the top 64 qualified players will be separated into two groups and regions.

  • Western Europe: West, Iberia & Benelux
  • Central & Eastern Europe: Germany, Austria, North & East

EA also uses the Swiss System in the virtual CL. This then filters out the 32 best FIFA players in Europe, which will advance to the Knockout stages of the eChampions League.

FIFA 23 eCL Knockout Stages (Top 32) – April 22 and 23, 2023 in London, England.

The best 32 players representing the eCL Knockout Stage will enter one double-elimination bracket, with the final eight advancing to the monumental eCL Finals.

Similar to last year, players will be competing for over US$280,000 in prize money. First place will take home US$75,000 and a shiny trophy, second place will take home US$50,000, third place will take home US$30,000 and fourth place will take home US$20,000 in cash.
