If you’ve ever played Wordle, you know it’s a terrific way to get your imagination flowing. The game casts you in the position of an editor for a magazine that specializes in word games and cryptic messages, and it's your job to find the answers. You read through a paper and discover words concealed in the text. But if you'd rather have a challenge, or maybe you simply want to spend more time thinking about hidden meanings than you would playing Wordle, try your hand at Redactle instead.

Redactle is simply a word game in which the objective is to decipher the secret redaction code used by the other players in order to emerge victorious. In order to do this, you will need to speculate on letter combinations and then use those letters in conjunction with word fragments and blank spaces that have been supplied by the other participants. If it seems unclear, read on for a thorough description of the game or watch the video above.

This game is a fast-paced party game that may include anywhere from three to six participants and lasts for around half an hour. There are two teams: red and blue, and each player is given a card with a secret redaction code (a hidden phrase), as well as numerous cards with letter combinations (such as "V + ER") to play with. On your turn, you may either offer another player one of your letter cards or request that they give you one of theirs. Next you expose your redaction code and check to see whether their response and yours share any words. If there is, you mark it with an X; if there isn't, you keep guessing until you either discover it or run out of possibilities. The game is won by the team that deciphers all of their opponent's codes first.
