What is clear is that Action Movie live and die by their success in conveying one thing: the action. It can be disappointing to sit down and watch an action movie, only to walk away feeling that it doesn't offer enough satisfying action. Whether it's through a car chase, a big bang, a sword fight, a gun fight, or a martial arts fight -- or some/all of the above -- action fans want to enjoy themselves to the point where everything else is secondary, so to speak.
