A couple years ago I wrote an article on the benefits of dumbbell bench press. Today I want to quickly run through some more specific aspects of this exercise, focusing mainly on the chest and back muscles. If you've done any research at all on the matter, you'll know that the chest is responsible for a good number of our body's muscular power, as well as providing support for our skeleton. By working the chest muscles with the help of dumbbells, we can ensure that our muscles get a thorough workout, with lots of room for growth.

Like most exercises, bench presses target the muscles in the chest region. The rule of thumb when working out with weights is that when you feel like you could potentially give one more rep, you should be adding weight to the weight you're using on the bar. The rule is the same when it comes to dumbbells. You don't have to really push yourself. A little bit of a pause between reps and a heavy finish is all that's needed, so long as the muscles are getting some support.

One of the most common reasons people go to the gym is to build muscle. As such, the question becomes: what are the benefits of dumbbell bench press? The barbell style of bench press will allow you to work the upper region of your body just as effectively as an exercise like the barbell press. The key difference is the amount of weight you're putting on the bar, which means that you will be working a much smaller area of your body.

However, the real reason to do dumbbell bench press is the stress that it puts on your body. The barbell style of movement forces you to use a lot of your muscles to keep it held up; by comparison, a dumbbell bench press only requires your arms and shoulders to do the work. The weights aren't even that heavy, and if done right, shouldn't be too physically demanding on your body. By having these types of exercises done on a regular basis, you'll notice that they tend to be the only workouts that seem to offer lasting results.

Another one of the benefits of dumbbell bench press is the increase in metabolism that you will notice. With weights on your chest, you will be burning calories at a higher rate for longer periods of time. This means that you will be dropping pounds faster than ever before. If you have a lot of extra fat sitting around, now is the perfect time to get rid of it. The great thing about metabolism is that it never stays the same. It goes up, down, and varies based upon your current diet and activity level.

There are a lot more benefits to doing dumbbell bench presses. You will notice an increase in strength quickly and improve your overall conditioning. Also, you can always count on getting the most out of each workout. By switching up which muscles you focus on each time you go to the gym, you will never get bored with your workouts. You can get a little more specialized by adding dumbbells or even a bar to your exercises.
