MMR is only established upon wins or losses. It works on a scale, of sorts. Beating a better ranked participant will boom your MMR through a higher value than beating a similarly, or decrease, ranked opponent. Likewise, dropping to Rocket League Credits a higher rank means there may be less of a drop off as a end result, and vise versa.
